In the world of Yin and Yang, it is said that the universe naturally seeks balance. In the case of the United States our reputation is always one of extremes. Very black - very white. Today, the flux, in the seesaw extreme interim, we are expressing discomfort from the vertigo of extreme. How to balance the scales- how to use our energy to return to a state of equilibrium? Where to put our weight. These are the pressing questions of today.
This is another great piece, Sherry. indivisible.org is a really good resource and very active in Charlotte. Until recently, a lifelong protester, marcher, candidate supporter, doobell ringer, it is beyond frustrating to be physically unable to do those things anymore. But, you are right, each of us can do what we can do. This morning, two young men rang our doorbell and said they were canvassing for a local city council member. They had no ID, had to look at their phone to see who they were representing, and wanted to talk to our daughter, whose name they knew. After they left, we decided we were uncomfortable. Plus, we like the councilwoman in question and figured, if these guys were for real, their presentation was going to cost her votes. Dennis was able to reach her campaign, and the person he spoke to had heard from another person he had contacted in the council office. Based on all this, they are calling in all their field volunteers to go through a training on how to canvass, and will also provide t-shirts that will identify them. That's what we could do today, and we felt good about not just letting it go. And we make a monthly contribution to Roy Cooper's campaign for Senate. Thanks for the reminder, Sherry.
I love that you and Dennis did this! You're absolutely right; you did a GREAT deed that will be far-reaching! Yes ...Someone with no ID inquiring about your daughter is very creepy. I'm glad they were apparently legit, and you could be helpful! And you know I love Roy Cooper, someone to feel good about!
Awesome, needful piece, so appreciated.
thank you Sweetie

Beautiful metaphor...where to put our weight indeed, Leah.
